Joseph Tecson’s process in creating art involves very raw and instinctual feelings that gravitate towards a deep aesthetical and emotional understanding of his subjects. Most of the images that he chooses to work with are relatively anonymous but they truly resonate a command within him both aesthetically and emotionally: “ A sort of instant bond is created within me when I first see an image, not unlike having a gut feeling when presented with a dilemma or even a feeling of déjà vu when seeing familiar alien objects and places that relate to past as well as current events in my life. A sort of powerful raw emotion compels me to “free” these images from their current form and transform them into their rawest and purest state in my paintings.”
A pattern eventually surfaces upon closer examination of the images that Joseph chooses to show. Images closer to violence, death and pain are a few of the themes that are explored. “I try to challenge the reality within an image and test if the concept is changed or eroded through the
