The initial idea for The Weather Bureau was an interest in ruins and Albert Speer’s Theory of Ruin Value and how that theory has greatly influenced Hitler’s vision of monumentality. By picturing disasters/weather viagra vs no viagra conditions in their active state, they are attempting to envision monumentality in the process of ravishing a landscape or a city. In recreating them, in whatever means they choose to simulate these various weathering, they somehow wanted to control the seemingly uncontrollable, striving for perfection, via shortcuts and cheats, and the calculated accidents produced by the materials they use.

In such inordinate ordering there in lies an inherent fascism, in a very ordered interior, and in the very ordered picture for the frame dictated it so, it cialis for sale online seizes and serves only what is within its limits. The next frame is not a continuum of the previous picture. But past and future can co-exist in this suspended denouement of the moment, for the present is rather a passing and a foreboding, eternity in stasis, potential imagined for its potentiality, Diderot walking between two eternities, two constants – time enduring and world remaining.

The Weather Bureau seeks to pictorialize all such exigencies wrought by the incongruence of order and the limitless, and the inevitable ruination incurred does cialis work first time in such process.

The Weather Bureau is in one in the era of possibility in the empire of fictions.

Weather Bureau is composed of Lena Cabangbang and Mike Crisostomo who prior to this project has been working together doing production design and prop styling gigs.

The process by which they make the dioramas for their photos incorporate cookery and some photoshop. It is an natural recourse for them since they both have a background in production design work, while Crisostomo had some formal cookery training and Cobangbang had been doing rudimentary food styling or food props prepping for some films and TVCs.

They have mostly stuck to the basics such as eggs, flour and gelatin in producing or recreating some of the effects they want to achieve in simulating certain weather conditions, i.e. beaten eggs for foam, gelatin for a wave, flour for pavement, shaved ice for snow, etc.

The 1st part of their project to be shown at Blanc Gallery this 5th of September until the 26th will comprise of 13 one-off editions of photographs of disasters and weather conditions mostly in their active state, while the rest are imagined aftermaths of natural freak accidents of nature such as sinkholes and fluffy misting in moldy forests.

The 2nd part of their project to be shown at the 2nd floor gallery of Manila Contemporary, comprises of videos depicting the cycles of destruction and reconstruction but in the slowed down mannered looping of suspended explosions and dissolving sand castles as like moving stills that anticipate the denoument of brittle structures (cake ziggurats and sandcastles) to their near pulverization only to be rebuilt again a new. This is supplemented by a scale model of Frank Lloyd Wright’s iconic Falling Water House whose very placement in an aquarium, flouts even the iconicity of such structure, the very structure remaining as a still image while nature erodes it or floods it with the dream sentiment of a past aspiration.

The Weather Bureau was part of The Complete and Unabridged Part 2, one of such exhibits organized by King Kong Art Projects to commemorate Roberto Chabet’s 50 years of his art practice. This was held at Osage Gallery what would happen if woman takes viagra inHong Konglast March til May of this year.
